Fenestraz blames brake failure, loses out on double podium chance

Brake failure costs Fenestraz historic feat

The French-Argentine rising star, who finished third in Saturday’s opening race, settled for 20th and last of the finishers on Sunday after suffering from an off-track excursion.

Fenestraz said that he initially thought that the brakes were not managed correctly behind the safety car. However, it was later revealed that a failure in the brakes was the main cause of his issue. After the race he told reporters;

“From there the race was difficult from the back. I was pushing and the brakes weren’t feeling right, at the A-corner I went on the outside curb and lost the rear. The left-rear tire blew up, so we had to pit”

Regardless of the forgettable 20th place finish, Fenestraz believes that the race was a learning experience for him as he seeks to do better in upcoming races.

“Realistically, I still need more experience. In my first season I didn’t do so many full races, I had a lot of DNFs, and last year I wasn’t really here, so it was another learning curve for me” he added.
