JuniorGP World Championship starts this weekend in Estoril

JuniorGP Championship begins in Estoril

Some of the world’s top young riders will test their mettle as they battle it out in this weekend’s 2022 Finetwork FIM JuniorGP World Championship at the Circuito do Estoril in Portugal.

Leading the star-studded cast of competitors in the JuniorGP category are SIC Racing’s Syarifuddin Azman, Spanish rider David Salvador, and Colombian teenage sensation David Alonso, who was the winner of the 2020 Hawkers European Talent Cup.

Alonso, who also happens to be the second-best returnee to the class, is also targeting a first win in the JuniorGP category for Colombia after two podium finishes in 2021.

Meanwhile, the battle in the Moto2 European Championship category is also expected to be heated with ECh runner-up and multiple race winner Hector Garzo, German rider Lukas Tulovic, and Promoracing’s Xavi Cardelus headlining the competition.

Familiar faces will also grace the Hawkers ETC class with reigning champion Maximo Martinez returning to defend his title and Brian Uriarte hoping to improve from his fourth place finish last year.

The 2022 Finetwork FIM JuniorGP World Championship, which starts this weekend in Portugal, will end in October in Spain.
