Suzuki have come to an agreement with MotoGP promoters Dorna Sports which will see them leave the sport at the end of the 2022 season.
The Japanese manufacturer previously confirmed in May that it was planning to quit, but as their current contract tied them to the sport until 2026, further discussions needed to take place with Dorna.
Those talks have now been completed and an early termination has now been agreed.
As well as the team’s entry in MotoGP, the announcement also confirmed that Suzuki would be ending its involvement in the FIM Endurance World Championship.
The team returned to MotoGP in 2015 after they previously left in 2011. They clinched their first rider’s championship in 20 years when Spaniard Joan Mir won the title in 2020.
The team had made a strong start to the championship in 2022 but have had a difficult run of results since they confirmed they were planning to quit. Mir currently sits eighth in the standings with team-mate Alex Rins in ninth.
Both riders are still looking for a ride for 2023, although it is expected they will remain in MotoGP with different manufacturers.
