Joey Logano finds his first victory of the season

Published on

The 2018 NASCAR Cup Series champion, Joey Logano, has been struggling to win a race in 2022, but his waiting has come to an end after a delightful yet controversial performance in Darlington. After leading most laps and winning Stage 1, the 31-year-old made his way past William Byron towards the end of the race. However, Logano’s actions were a bit on the edge as he hit his opponent on the back, which dragged him down to 13th place. In the end, there were no penalties for him which helped him climb back into 4th place in the current standings.

Tyler Reddick claimed his third podium for the season after finishing second, while the biggest surprise at the 2022 Goodyear 400 was undoubtedly the third place for Justin Haley, marking his first fourth top 10 finish throughout his 101-race career. Chase Elliott had a decent weekend as he ended up in 5th place, allowing him to extend his lead in the overall standings. The race at Darlington was quite unlucky for some of the contenders for the title, including Ross Chastain, Kyle Busch, Martin Truex Jr., Alex Bowman, and Kyle Larson, who finished outside the top 20.
