Kurt Busch gets his first win for 23XI Racing

Published on

Sunday’s race in Kansas reminded us that age is just a number. The 43-year-old Kurt Busch enjoyed a successful performance throughout Stage 2 which was enough to put him among the contenders for the final victory. He snatched first place away from Kyle Larson with 8 laps to go and didn’t give it back. This was his 34th NASCAR Cup Series win in his career, which further seals his legacy as a stock car racing legend. The 2004 NASCAR Cup Series champion looks a bit inconsistent this year as he rarely makes his way into the top 10 in 2022.

Kyle Larson could be a bit furious with the way the race turned out in the end, but his second place was enough for him to close the gap to the leaders in the Championship. This was his sixth top 5 result this season which proves his determination and consistency this year. Kyle Busch came in third which launched him into third place in the overall standings. The leader in the Championship, Chase Elliott, had troubles in Kansas finishing off 29th despite leading the pack halfway through Stage 2.
