Portland Trail Blazers Win the Summer League

Published on

The Portland Trail Blazers defeated the New York Knicks in the Championship game in the 2022 NBA Summer League. The Western Conference team won the battle, 77-85, after taking down the second quarter by 13 points.

The Blazers started off with a loss to the Detroit Pistons as they could find an answer to Jaden Ivey’s versatile playing style. However, they managed to pick up three convincing straight victories to put themselves in second place overall behind the New York Knicks.

The Knicks were unable to stop Trendon Watford on Sunday in Las Vegas as the 21-year-old power forward finished off with 19 points, seven rebounds, and two assists. He was named MVP for the Championship match as he shot 7-15 from the field and had a decent contribution on both ends, snatching 3 steals and 1 blocked shot.

Brandon Williams dropped 22 points for the Blazers, while Quentin Grimes added 19 points for the Knicks on a 5-16 shooting. Despite their recent success, Portland is still looking for their first NBA title since 1977 as they will do their best to take advantage of having Damian Lillard under the roof at Moda Center.
