Connecticut Huskies to face Butler Bulldogs on Monday

Connecticut and Kentucky met in the national semifinals from Houston, Texas on Saturday. The Butler Bulldogs are into the national championship as they defeated the VCU Rams earlier today. Their opponent on Monday night will be the Connecticut Huskies as UCONN defeated the Kentucky Wildcats in the second national semifinal.   At half-time Connecticut had a 10 point lead as they were ahead 31-21 but Kentucky really poured things on in the second half before falling short.   Final Score Kentucky Wildcats: 55 Connecticut Huskies: 56   Jim Calhoun will make his third appearance in the national championship game on Monday having won the last two that he challenged. Calhoun’s Huskies won the 2004 national championship over Georgia Tech behind the efforts of Emeka Okafor and the 1999 Huskies defeated the Duke Blue Devils in the final thanks in no small part to Richard Hamilton.   Brad Stevens, the head coach of Butler, will be making his second consecutive appearance in the national championship game as Butler lost to Duke last year by two points.   CBS will have television coverage of the championship game from Houston on Monday night with tip-time scheduled for 9:53pm ET.
