The non-BCS bowl games continue on Wednesday as Boise State and Utah meet in the Maaco Bowl.

The Boise State Broncos are the team most NCAA football fans are picking to win this year’s Maaco Bowl in Las Vegas. The Broncos’ opponent will be the Utah Utes and the non-BCS game takes place on December 22nd from Sam Boyd Stadium.

The Broncos were in the BCS championship mix until they lost a key game down the stretch to the Nevada Wolfpack. At 11-1 overall and out of the WAC, the Broncos have a better record than the Utah Utes who are 10-2 out of the Mountain West Conference.

The Utes are a club that faded significantly down the stretch of the regular season. They looked to be lined up for a BCS bowl game before suffering back to back losses to TCU and Notre Dame.

While the loss to TCU was understandable as the Horned Frogs are the third best team in NCAAF this season, the fact that the Utes lost that game, which was a home game, by 40 points really hurt their ranking.

Boise State’s sole defeat was a 3 point loss on the road against a top 20 team and the Broncos look a lot better than Utah heading into Wednesday’s game.

Starting time is at 8pm ET on Wednesday and it’s the only football action going on for December 22nd.
