Carlos Correa came back with a bang in a match against the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday. The Minnesota Twins shortstop just recovered from an injury, yet he contributed to 2 for 4 with an RBI and two runs. The game ended with his team winning the game with a season-high score of 14-4.

“It was really nice to get back out there with the guys,” said Correa. “Being back out there, it definitely felt like opening day a little bit to me.”

Correa entered the injured list for a bruise on the middle finger of his right hand. He was swinging his bat when a pitch hit his finger. He was off the team for 10 days, causing him to miss 11 games.

Other players also contributed to the runs for the Twins on Wednesday. Gary Sánchez gave a 2 for 4 with two and three RBIs. Luis Arraez gave 3 for 5 with four runs and double RBIs. Ryan Jeffers added two hits and double RBIs.

Gio Urshela, Jorge Polanco, Max Kepler, and Nick Gordon also had RBIs with Luis Arráez, Ryan Jeffers, and Gilberto Celestino, giving two runs each.

“Very solid day all the way around from our offensive group,” said Twins manager Rocco Baldelli. “There was a lot of action. There were a lot of baserunners. That’s what we’re looking for. We found a way to get them home.”

Starter Sonny Gray pitched for six innings while only allowing two runs on six hits, no walks, and five strikeouts. “I’d never beaten the A’s before so I really wanted to, selfishly, personally, do that,” he said.

Daulton Jefferies started for Oakland, letting his opponent six runs in four innings. He later suffered an injury due to bicep tightness and underwent an MRI after the game.
