St Helens crowned 2014 Super League champions

St Helens beat Wigan Warriors 14-6 at Old Trafford on Saturday to be crowned Super League champions.

And departing Saints head coach Nathan Brown says the club will have the pick of the best candidates when the Grand Final winners choose his successor.

Brown bowed out in style as St Helens beat the Warriors, who played most of the game with 12 men following the early dismissal of Ben Flower, and the Australian is content that he has made the right decision to head home.

“My job is done,” he said.

“If I stayed around next year it would have been for money and while that’s good, it’s not the right thing to do to the club because they are a champion club.

“Every coach wants to come and coach St Helens because it is one of the greatest clubs in the world and has a great roster.

“But for me it’s just family. We have missed them and I’m that happy to be going home from a family point of view.”
