State of Origin Game 1 is here, and here are how the two teams line up… Wednesday’s game is the 100th State of Origin clash between Queensland and New South Wales and Game 1 of the 2014 series is taking place at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.
Preview: Queensland have won the last eight State of Origin Series and will be gunning for a straight nine, although Blues pride is not something to dismiss despite the recent record. Blues coach Lurie Daley has made a few surprise changes with the halves coming from Canterbury Bulldogs rather than the Sydney Roosters. Daley has opted to go Josh Reynolds and Trent Hodkinson instead of the regular pairing of James Maloney and Mitchell Pearce, while Greg Bird is suspended so Ryan Hoffman gets a start in the back-row. Roosters forward Aidan Guerra gets his first taste of Origin football with a place on the Maroons bench, while Daly Cherry-Evans is also sat on the pine and will be itching to get on the paddock.
