Manchester United forward Adnan Januzaj insists he is happy at the club and is determined to show Louis van Gaal that he is worth a place in his side.
Januzaj, who scored the winning goal in Friday’s 1-0 victory at Aston Villa, has been linked with a loan move to Sunderland but is adamant that his future lies at Old Trafford.
The 20-year-old struggled to break into the United first team last season after impressing in the 2013/14 campaign when David Moyes was boss.
He didn’t start a match in the final three months of last season, but said: “Last year was last year. This year is this year. I am happy at Manchester United and I am happy the way the manager worked with me so I don’t have any issues with that.
“The manager has spoken to me a few times and I can feel I am developing myself. I have not had a lot of games but this season maybe I get a few more opportunities to play.”
Van Gaal said of Januzaj: “Adnan had eight starts last season and 14 substitutions so he didn’t have any chances? This is not true, in my opinion.
“He is 20 years old. The characteristics of a young player are he is not consistent. He has to show that. Maybe he can show it this season. It is possible.”
