Paredes out for two months
Paris Saint-Germain and Argentina midfielder Leandro Paredes will be unavailable for two months after picking up an injury in PSG’s match against Lorient.
Paredes ruptured his groin and will now require surgery. It means he will likely be unavailable for the rest of the Ligue 1 season and Argentina’s next match against Italy in June.
It is a big loss for Lionel Scaloni’s side as he has been an important player for them in recent times. He started both games against Venezuela and Ecuador during the recent international break.
It is hoped that he should have recovered in time for the new season and will then be available for selection for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
He suffered the injury in the first half of PSG’s 5-1 win and left the field of play just before half time.
He has made 22 appearances for the French side this season but has been in and out of the side due to injuries.
