Arsenal closing in on Gabriel Jesus deal

Published on

Arsenal’s efforts to replace the outgoing Alexandre Lacazzette have stepped up with the Gunners reportedly close to securing the transfer of Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City.

Jesus who is in the final year of his contract at the Etihad looks surplus to requirements following the arrival of both Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez.

Despite being in the final year of his contract, City chiefs are holding out for a fee around the £50 million mark – which Arsenal look set to meet.

With personal terms not expected to be an issue, people close to the deal believe that the move could happen as early as next week.

Jesus looks to have chosen the Gunners above both Chelsea and Tottenham. A move to the Emirates will see Jesus as their main man and will likely give him a realistic chance of making Brazil’s World Cup squad.

Jesus arrived at the Etihad in the January of 2017. Since his arrival, he has gone on to score 58 Premier League goals. He has seen himself out of favor in the last few seasons and has only 17 goals in his last 57 appearances.

Arsenal face another season out of the Champions League but are desperate to return, Mikel Arteta will be hoping that Jesus’s goals can fire them back into Europe’s elite competition.
