Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila, who is a target for Arsenal and has also been linked with Manchester United, is almost certain to miss France’s Euro 2012 opener against England on Monday. France’s medical staff admitted on Friday they are “not optimistic” of the tough-tackler being available for Les Bleus’ opening game. Team doctor Fabrice Bryand told L’Equipe: “His progress is good but we do not want to aggravate the injury. We are not optimistic for the 11th. “We will increase his workload and see if his ankle swells again or if he suffers any ill effects. We will pay close attention to the player’s recovery.” The 21-year-old has been linked with a move to Arsenal after establishing himself as a key player in Ligue 1 this season, although reports in recent days have suggested Premier League rivals Man Utd are also keen. M’Vila has confirmed he will leave Rennes this summer and is also a target for Inter Milan, while Liverpool and Real Madrid have previously shown interest. Arsenal are widely seen as favourites to sign the the defensive midfielder, but following reports in France suggesting United are ready to enter the race to sign him, RMC Sport reported earlier this week that two unidentified clubs have made contact with Rennes about a possible deal. M’Vila earlier this month admitted he is only focused on helping his country at the European Championships, and will now not consider his options until after the tournament ends. “My present at the moment is France,” he told Goal.com. “After the Euros we will see what happens with my future. There are many options open and I still don’t know what will happen. “We will have to talk about everything in a relaxed way but I don’t think my signing for another club will depend on what happens in the Euros.
