Bacary Sagna has been ruled out for three weeks with a hamstring injury, Arsenal have confirmed.
The 30-year-old France international sustained the injury during Tuesday’s Champions League win over Napoli and, while it was originally feared he would only miss a fortnight, medical tests have confirmed a longer lay-off.
Arsenal take on West Brom in the Premier League on Sunday and manager Arsene Wenger told a pre-match press conference on Friday: “Sagna will be not be available, he has a hamstring injury and will be out for three weeks.”
If the extent of the injury is confirmed by the French national team’s medical staff, Sagna will not be able to play in the friendly against Australia on October 11th, or in their final World Cup qualifying fixture against Finland on October 15th.
Meanwhile, Arsenal will also be without Santi Cazorla for this weekend’s trip to The Hawthorns, with the Spanish midfielder missing out with an ankle problem.
