Arsenal FC, Liverpool FC target Ibrahim Afellay could be sold this month

Barcelona have refused to rule out parting company with a number of players this month as Ibrahim Afellay continues to be linked with Arsenal and Liverpool. Afellay’s agent earlier this month said a move away from Barca could be a possibility, with Rob Jansen telling reporters that “Afellay could go out on loan for a year.” Reports in the Netherlands international’s homeland earlier this week claimed Barcelona coach Tito Vilanova has told the midfielder that he can leave either on loan or on a permanent deal. Arsenal and Liverpool have been keen on Afellay for some time, and Barca sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta has revealed that several players could leave Camp Nou either on loan or on a permanent basis before the August 31st transfer deadline. Jonathan dos Santos is another fringe player who could be on his way out of the club, and Zubizarreta told reporters: “We like our squads to be fairly compact. Until the market closes, we have some interesting options to look into. “We are working with some agents to see if we can find the best places for some of the players to develop their careers.” Zubizarreta also insisted the club have no plans to make any further signings this summer after bringing in Jordi Alba and Alex Song. “As for further signings, we don’t have any plans.
