Speaking ahead of the game, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said he expects his team to show their strength in the Champions League, despite the loss of midfielder Francis Coquelin.

Coquelin is facing around two months out of action due to an ankle injury sustained in the 2-1 weekend defeat at West Brom, leaving Wenger to find cover for the clash with Zagreb.

He hinted that either Mathieu Flamini or Calum Chambers could be deployed in the role usually occupied by Coquelin, telling reporters: “We will be without Coquelin for certainly the next two months.

“We have players like Flamini and Calum Chambers has been educated as a central midfielder, so there are good opportunities for other players to show up and show they can do the job.”

The Gunners know that they must win the game to have any chance of reaching the Champions League knockout stages.

Meanwhile, Wenger expects to be boosted in the next week or so by the returns of another two or three key players, adding: “We have [Aaron] Ramsey and maybe [Alex] Oxlade-Chamberlain back for the weekend and [Theo] Walcott will be the next one.”

Arsenal have only won once in their last five games in all competitions, with that run including a 5-1 drubbing away to Bayern Munich in their last Champions League outing.
