Aston Villa look to buy Coutinho for a cut-price fee this summer

Published on

Aston Villa wants to extend Philippe Coutinho’s stay at the club. Coutinho is currently on a loan deal from Barcelona which will finish at the end of the season.

Despite attracting a host of attention from some big Premier Clubs it was Steven Gerrard and Aston Villa that persuaded Coutinho to move away from Barcelona.

Gerrard and Coutinho who were once former Liverpool teammates clearly have a great relationship and since Coutinho joined in the January transfer window it’s safe to say that the Brazilian has had a significant impact.

Coutinho has played twelve games for Villa and has found the back of the net on four occasions.

The Villains have the option to make the transfer permanent this summer if they so wish. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, it’s reported that Villa could sign Coutinho for 40 million euros but recent reports indicate that Villa is looking to secure the Brazilian’s services for half that amount.

Barcelona needs the cash and Coutinho’s wages off their books however whether they would accept a fee around the £20 million mark remains to be seen.
