Atlante Plan for Liga MX Return with Stadium Overhaul

Atlante will take on Atlético Morelia in the final of the Liga de Expansión MX, with the winner enjoying promotion to Liga MX.

However, Atlante’s hopes of immediate ascension look to be dashed when Liga MX deemed their home ground, the Ciudad de los Deportes Stadium, to be unfit to host top-flight soccer.
As such, officials have initially refused to grant certification after revealing that Los Potros de Hierro ‘did not meet all the established criteria’.

Given Atlante’s progress to the business end of the Liga de Expansión MX campaign, they have had to move quickly to ensure that they can meet all of Liga MX’s parameters, and one aspect is to improve their stadium – with work to begin imminently.

A club spokesman confirmed: “We have made a detailed analysis of the minimum observations that were made to us in order to correct them as soon as possible, and satisfactorily meet the requirements established by the committee.”
