Bruno dents Arsenal’s Champions League hopes

Arsenal’s Champions League hopes were massively dented following a gutting 2-0 defeat to Newcastle.

The Gunners knew that a win against the Magpies would place their Champions League destiny back in their own hands, but with the defeat, Arsenal are now relying on other results falling their way.

Arsenal never got going and Newcastle were more than deserving winners. At the heart of Newcastle’s brilliant performance was the tireless Bruno Guimaraes.

Guimaraes has settled into life in the Premier League effortlessly and the Brazilian was a bundle of energy throughout the game. Excellent going forward but also in breaking up the play. Newcastle looks to have a real gem on their hands.

Newcastle took the lead midway through the second half thanks to an own goal from Ben White. With Arsenal desperately pushing for an equaliser, Newcastle tried to exploit the space that the Gunners were leaving behind. With just five minutes of time remaining it was fitting that Bruno grabbed the winner. The ball broke to the Brazilian in the box who made no mistake in slotting the ball home, sending the home fans into raptures.

The revolution for Newcastle is only just beginning, with players like Bruno on their side who knows what the Magpies could achieve next season.
