Champions League Final Team News

Champions League final team news – Confirmed starting XI for both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid (kick off 19:45)

The teams have been announced for the 2014 UEFA Champions League final
Diego Costa starts the UEFA Champions League for Atletico Madrid, just one week after sustaining a hamstring injury that many had feared would keep the Spain international out of the World Cup.

The 25-year-old has been crucial to Atleti throughout the season and manager Diego Simeone felt it necessary to take the risk on Costa, who will be supported by Koke, Raul Garcia and David Villa.

Arda Turan, who also picked up an injury against Barcelona last weekend, has to settle for a place on the bench, with Gabi and Tiago continuing in the centre of midfield.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti sprung some surprises of his own with his team selection, bringing back Sami Khedira for only his second start since sustaining a knee injury some six months ago. The German partners Luka Modric in midfield, with Angel Di Maria, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo forming a fearsome four man attack.

Pepe has not recovered from injury in time to partner Sergio Ramos in defence so young French international Raphael Varane continues at the back with Fabio Coentrao preferred to Marcelo at left-back.

Confirmed Starting Teams

Real Madrid: Casillas Carvajal, Varane, Ramos, Coentrao, Di Maria, Khedira, Modric, Bale, Ronaldo, Benzema
