Diego Godin, who has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs including Chelsea and Liverpool, could reportedly be sold by Atletico Madrid this month. Chelsea have been linked with Godin for some time and had a bid rejected by Atletico at the start of last year. Reports in Spain last month suggested Premier League champions Manchester City were showing interest in the £12million-rated centre-back, while Arsenal and Liverpool have also been linked with the 26-year-old. Liverpool are believed to be keen on signing the Uruguay international should Daniel Agger leave the club. Agger’s future at Liverpool is uncertain, with Barcelona and Manchester City both keen on signing the centre-back. Godin recently insisted he was happy in the Spanish capital, but according to the Daily Express, Atletico are ready to cash in on the 26-year-old to ease their financial problems. And according to Marca, Godin is keen on joining Man City should manager Roberto Mancini indicate he is interested in signing him before the transfer window closes at the end of the month. Godin’s agent has previously admitted to holding talks with Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool, although the player had recently said when asked about his future: “I wish to stay [at Atletico Madrid]. “Adrian and Radamel Falcao are here too and like me they hope to continue here. “The European Super Cup is the ultimate goal we have in the short term, because it’s another title and offers prestige in Europe. We are privileged to be taking part. “We will be ambitious but organised too. By doing that we will start earning points and hopefully achieve our main objective of Champions League qualification.”
