Chelsea playmaker Eden Hazard called his home debut against Newcastle on Saturday a “great evening” and wants to help his new club challenge for honours on all fronts this season.

Hazard has made a superb start to the season with his new club, with one goal and six assists to his name after just three games.

Speaking toTelefoot, the Belgium international said: “To play [at Stamford Bridge] in front of 40,000 fans was a great evening. Especially when there is victory at the end.

“The fans, you really see that they live for the game and that was right for how I needed to grow.”

Of Chelsea’s goals so far this season, Hazard added: “Chelsea’s ambitions are those of a great club.

“This year, we had seven trophies to compete for. We have six left now. If we win two or three, that would be awesome.”

And of his recent debut for the Blues in the win at Wigan, Hazard said: “My debut? It could have been worse. It was the first game, with the physical engagement we know in the Premier League.

“But everything was not perfect. The second game [against Reading] was more important because it was the first at Stamford Bridge.”
