The credentials of the top two teams in the Chilean Primera División will be put to the test on Monday when Colo-Colo and Ñublense meet at Estadio Monumental.
The sides share identical W8 D4 L2 records, with Colo-Colo top of the pile by virtue of their greater goal difference.
Los Albos have won seven of their last ten Primera División games to make up for a pretty slow start to life in the 2022 campaign, and they are looking to claim their first league title in five years.
As for Ñublense, this is unchartered territory. They have never won the Primera División championship – although they did win the Torneo Apertura back in 2008.
Home advantage makes Colo-Colo the favourites to win this game, according to the bookmakers at least, and the fact they average 2.66 points per match at home – compared to Diablos Rojos’ record of 1.57 points per game on the road – is telling.
Intriguingly, the two teams met twice in 2021, with Ñublense winning both of them. This top-of-the-table clash could not be set up any better!
