Morelos ruled out for the season

Colombian forward Alfredo Morelos will not play again this season after requiring surgery on the thigh injury he picked up on international duty.

Morelos’ club Glasgow Rangers announced the news shortly after he returned. It will be a major blow for his club as they seek to retain the Scottish Premiership title and progress further in the Europa League.

He was part of the Colombia squad which missed out on qualification for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Despite winning both games against Bolivia and Venezuela, it wasn’t enough to secure a place as other results went against them. So, the news of Morelos’ injury will only add to the heartache.

He had been in good form for Rangers and is the team’s top scorer with 18 goals this season. It was this form which led to his recall to Los Cafeteros.

He has earned 11 caps for Colombia and scored one goal. It is hoped that he will have recovered in time for pre-season training.
