David Ospina weighing up Napoli future

Published on

Colombia captain David Ospina is reportedly monitoring his options regarding his future and where he will play his football next season.

The Napoli goalkeeper is out of contract in the summer, but Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti wants Ospina to stay for at least one more season.

Ospina has clearly earnt the trust of his boss and Spalletti sees the Colombian as a vital part of his side.

According to reports, Ospina has attracted the attention of clubs from across Europe with Lazio, Atalanta and Real Madrid all wanting to sign the experienced shot-stopper who has amassed over 100 caps for his country.

At 33, Ospina has proven he still is one of the best goalkeepers in Serie A and has plenty still to offer.

Napoli, who will compete in next season’s Champions League would give Ospina another opportunity to test himself against some of the world’s best sides.

Napoli will finish the Serie A season in 3rd place, but it was a season that promised a whole lot more. Along with the two Milan clubs, Napoli were competing for the title before a poor run of form saw them drop tamely out of contention.

Despite the promise of Champions League football, the finances for the Naples based club still remain tight. It looks set to be another interesting summer of ins and outs. Spalletti will be hoping he gets his wish and that Ospina sticks around.
