Ederson withdraws from Brazil squad due to injury

Published on

With a thigh injury, Brazil and Manchester City shot-stopper Ederson has withdrawn from the latest Brazil squad.

Ederson, who has just won his fifth Premier League title, will miss Brazil’s fixtures against South Korea and Japan.

Due to starting one of the upcoming friendly matches, his absence will hand his Premier League rival Alisson the opportunity to further cement himself as the team’s number one goalkeeper.

Like in so many other pitch areas, Brazil is blessed to have two outstanding goalkeepers on their side. Nothing separates the two, as demonstrated by both recently sharing the Premier League’s Golden Gloves award, with each keeper keeping twenty clean sheets apiece.

Alisson usually gets the nod in Brazil’s big matches, but manager Tite has never dismissed Ederson’s chances of overhauling the Liverpool shot-stopper in goal.

Brazil will be looking to build momentum ahead of the World Cup. The samba stars are currently the favorites for the tournament and are preparing for group fixtures against Serbia, Switzerland, and Cameroon.
