Enzo Fernandez on the radar of European trio

Published on

Reports in Argentina have circulated that new Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag wants to make River Plate midfielder Enzo Fernandez one of his first signings at Manchester United.

The report goes on to state that it isn’t just United who hold an interest in the midfielder, with both Manchester City and Real Madrid rumoured to also want the Argentine.

Fernandez has been one of the driving forces behind River Plate’s good form this season, with River holding an eight point lead at the top of the Argentinian league.

At just 21, Fernandez is certainly a talent for the future. He has scored eight goals and provided five assists so far this season.

Utd are set to lose Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard and Nemanja Matic this summer, so midfield reinforcements are needed. A key weak area in the team, United need someone who can break up the play, but still, keep the ball moving forward. Fernandez looks like he could fit that bill.

It’s unclear as to how much it will take to prise Fernandez away from River but with some of Europe’s top clubs competing for his signature, it will certainly be a transfer to keep an eye on.
