Santos striker Neymar, who is a target for Barcelona and Real Madrid, is like Superman, according to Santos president Luis Alvaro Ribeiro.
Neymar has been linked with a number of Europe’s elite clubs and despite last year signing a new contract with Santos is widely expected to be on the move before his deal expires in 2014.
Barcelona and Madrid have been linked for the 20-year-old for some time, along with Chelsea and Juventus.
Ribeiro is eager to keep hold of his prize asset for as long as possible, and after watching him play for his club and country on consecutive days, has been keen to praise the £40million-rated forward.
Neymar had played for Brazil in the 3-0 win over Sweden on Wednesday, before flying back to South America and playing – and scoring – in his club’s 3-1 win over Figueirense the following day.
“I suspect that his father came from Krypton and brought the boy [Neymar] to Earth in a rocket, because the only thing that makes sense is if he is Superman,” Ribeiro joked to Globo Esporte.
Barca are widely seen as favourites to sign Neymar if and when he leaves Brazil.
