Atlético Mineiro star Hulk could be banned for as many as 12 games for his kick on Willian Farias in the Brasileiro Série A clash with Coritiba.
The 35-year-old, who has scored three goals and assisted another in his four appearances this term, lashed out at Farias in a hot-tempered contest between their sides in April.
Hulk’s kick connected with what can only be described as a sensitive area of his opponent, and now the High Court of Sports Justice in Brazil will hear a case of ‘physical aggression’ against the forward.
The trial will commence on May 18, and if found guilty Hulk could face a suspension of between four and twelve games – although more lenient punishments, including shorter bans and fines, are available to authorities.
If hit with the longer ban, Hulk could miss crucial Brasileiro Série A fixtures against Flamengo and Palmeiras, as well as Copa Libertadores ties with Independiente and Tolima.
