Juan Reynoso Has Been Sacked as Head Coach of Cruz Azul

Cruz Azul Relegate Juan Reynoso

After a disappointing 2021/22 season, Cruz Azul have decided to part ways with Juan Reynoso.

It’s a remarkable fall from grace for the Peruvian, who guided La Máquina to the Torneo Guardianes (Clausura) title in 2021 before following up with victory in the Campeón de Campeones game.

Cruz Azul performed well below par this season, and failed to reach the business end of either the Apertura or Clausura campaigns, with defeat in the quarter-finals of the latter coming after a run of just one win in five at the end of the regular term.

According to reports, Hugo Sánchez and Ricardo Ferretti are the favourites to replace El Tuca.

Sánchez is a former Campeón de Campeones winner with Pumas, while Ferretti is one of the most decorated coaches in Mexican history following spells at Tigres, Toluca and Pumas.

Another name that could enter the frame is that of Nicolás Larcamón, who has worked wonders on a tiny budget at Puebla.
