The president of Liga MX has confirmed the start and end dates of Apertura 2022 and confirmed that the competition will end in time for the World Cup in Qatar.
Mikel Arriola revealed that the next edition of the Apertura will get underway on July 1, and with a trio of double days. This should help to accelerate the schedule of the league so it will finish on October 30 – well in advance of the start of the World Cup on November 21.
The date for the Campeón de Campeones game has also been confirmed – on June 26, Atlas will take on either Pachuca (if they win the Clausura) or Cruz Azul if Atlas themselves land the Clausura title.
Arriola has also offered tentative dates for the Clausura campaign in 2023. The action is scheduled to get underway on January 5, and will run through until the final on June 4.
