Lionel Messi urges Sergio Aguero to sign for rivals Real Madrid CF

Barcelona star Lionel Messi has urged Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero to return to Spain and sign for rivals Real Madrid.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is said to be desperate to sign Aguero at the end of the season – and is willing to pay whatever money it takes to lure him to the Bernabeu.

The 23-year-old is believed to have snubbed a chance to join Los Blancos when he moved to Manchester from rivals Atletico Madrid last summer, but although City boss Roberto Mancini has ruled out a swap with Gonzalo Higuain, reports in Spain continue to suggest that a summer deal could happen.

The Argentina international is also being urged to return to the Spanish capital by his father-in-law Diego Maradona.

And although he plays for Real Madrid’s rivals Barcelona, Messi admits he would like to see his friend and compatriot return to La Liga.

“If he goes to Real Madrid I am sure it will give him much joy,” Messi told Radio 9.

“If it’s the best thing for him, I will be very happy, because of our friendship.

“I get along very well with Kun off the field and we play well together. However in the national team there are very good strikers so we must take advantage of every time we are recalled.”

Atletico are understood to have asked for City assurances that he would not be sold to their rivals within two years when they agreed to sell him last year.

Last September, just a few months after Aguero moved to the Etihad Stadium, Mancini was forced to dismiss reports suggesting Aguero could leave the club at the end of the season to join Jose Mourinho’s side, following reports in Spain suggesting that the player himself was keen on a move back to the Spanish capital.

It had even been reported that Aguero only moved to Manchester on the condition that City would allow him to leave should Mourinho and Perez make an offer for him next summer.

Maradona has already revealed he tried to persuade Perez to sign his son-in-law prior to his £38m move to the Premier League. You might also be interested in:
