Liverpool Fc Considering Bid For Daniel Sturridge

Liverpool are reportedly considering launching a bid for Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge.

Sturridge has been linked with a move away from Chelsea for some time after becoming increasingly frustrated last season. After being played in a wide role under Andre Villas-Boas, who was sacked as Blues boss at the start of March, he fell completely out of favour in the closing stages of the season under Roberto Di Matteo.

Sturridge earlier this summer said he was hoping to be given the opportunity to play in his preferred central role should he still be a Chelsea player when the summer transfer window closes, and Blues boss Roberto Di Matteo has insisted the England international still has a role to play.

But according to the Daily Mail, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers could make a move for the forward in the coming days should Andy Carroll leave Anfield.

Newcastle and West Ham remain interested in signing the £35million striker, with former club Newcastle recently making a £12m offer.

Rodgers, who wants £20m for the target man, has made it clear he wants any deal for the 23-year-old to happen ahead of transfer deadline day, insisting he would have to be given time to sign a replacement.

“There is absolutely no chance any team will do a number on us – and certainly not Newcastle,” he insisted.

“Newcastle got £35million for this player last year. To even consider wanting to take him on loan is a liberty, really.

“I need a minimum of three strikers. Once the window shuts, that it is it until January.

“I have got Luis Suarez, Fabio Borini and Andy Carroll.

“I would need to be a nut-case to even consider at this moment to let Andy Carroll go out, unless there are other solutions for that.”

Sturridge has also been linked with Arsenal as well as former club Manchester City.
