Man Utd And Real Madrid Cf Target Luka Modric Blasted After Going Awol

Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has blasted Luka Modric for “making things worse” after the midfielder snubbed the club’s pre-season tour and flew home to Croatia.

Chelsea, Manchester United, and Real Madrid are all keen on signing the playmaker, with Madrid the huge favourites to win the race to sign the 26-year-old should he get his move away from White Hart Lane.

Spurs are insisting Modric will only be granted a move should their valuation – believed to be at least £35million – be met, and Villas-Boas has revealed Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is furious with the player.

Modric is set to be hit with a five-figure fine for every DAY he continues to be AWOL, and AVB told Spanish newpaper AS: “I think Modric is wrong.

“This will go against him. He has worsened the situation with what you are doing and now the chairman is very angry.

“This is also not a good time for Daniel Levy, who is in the USA at the moment, because his wife is ill.”

Modric had failed to board a flight out of London on Saturday for Tottenham’s pre-season tour of the United States.

His team-mate Rafael van der Vaart said he had gone to Modric’s house on Friday in an attempt to talk him round.

“It is in a difficult situation,” Van der Vaart was quoted as saying.

“The president is angry, but he is also very upset with what is happening. I think everything will be fixed in three or four days.”
