Man Utd Midfielder Michael Carrick Wants New Contract

Michael Carrick wants to sign a new contract at Manchester United.   Carrick, who joined United from Tottenham in 2006, is out of contract at the end of the season but is keen to extend his stay at Old Trafford.   “I’d love to carry on playing as long as possible at this club,” he told Sky Sports News.   “It’s a fantastic club, I’ve had great times here.   “I feel good at the moment, I’ve just turned 32 so I’ve got a bit of time yet.”   Meanwhile, Carrick insists that United will respond to their disappointing start to the season.   The Red Devils drew with Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League on Wednesday night, but return to Premier League action this weekend looking to make improvements. David Moyes’ side head to Sunderland this afternoon on the back of their worst start to a domestic campaign since 1989.   “You have periods, whether it is through seasons or through years when things don’t quite go right,” he said ahead of Sunderland vs. Man Utd.   “You just have to face it and find a way to get through it.   “You can’t hide and go under. You have to respond. That is what we will do.”
