Man Utd Need Luck In Front Of Goal Louis Van Gaal

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal believes his side need a change of luck in front of goal in the wake of Sunday’s 2-1 defeat at Swansea.

United dominated for long spells at the Liberty Stadium and found themselves in front just after the interval when Luke Shaw found Juan Mata and the Spaniard scored from close range.

Garry Monk changed Swansea’s shape soon after and the Red Devils were caught napping as first Andre Ayew and then Bafetimbi Gomis scored for the home side.

Ayew played a magnificent pass to set up in-form Gomis for the second Swansea goal but United goalkeeper Sergio Romero will not enjoy watching the replay after he allowed the shot squirm underneath his body.

At the other end, Van Gaal’s men could not find an equaliser despite seizing control of the game once more in the closing stages, leaving the Dutchman to rue a poor run in front of goal.

“First you have to create chances, with scoring goals you need luck that we don’t have at the moment,” he said.

“I have enjoyed our football but you need the result and we lost again. All the players were very motivated to beat them.

The United boss admits his side were caught out when Swansea changed their shape shortly after Mata had scored.

“We controlled the game for 85 minutes but we lost in five minutes and that cannot happen,” Van Gaal added.

“They changed the shape and we had to be compact. We forgot that maybe because we are too dominant. We have to learn from that.”
