The Brazilian defender Marcelo has officially made history at Real Madrid after becoming the first player to win 24 trophies at the club.
The 33-year-old has overtaken Francisco ‘Paco’ Gento after the Galacticos were crowned La Liga champions on Saturday thanks to a 4-0 victory over Espanyol.
And Marcelo, whose contract expires in the summer, could yet add another trophy to his packed collection should Real be able to see off Manchester City in the Champions League semi-final on Wednesday.
The left back already has four titles to his name in the competition, to go with his six La Liga crowns, two Copa del Rey wins, five Supercopa de Espana victories, a trio of UEFA Super Cups and four FIFA Club World Cup triumphs.
He has confirmed that he would like to see out the rest of his career in Madrid, however talks over a contract extension are yet to get underway.
