Martinez’s hot streak continues as Inter takes Serie A race to final day

Lautoro Martinez’s fine form in front of goal continued as he scored another two goals in Inter Milan’s 3-1 win over Cagliari.

The win for Inter keeps them on the coattails of rivals AC as the two Milan clubs look to settle who will win the title next week. A loss for Inter would have handed their rivals the title but the gap between the two teams is back at two points.

In a cagey match, it was Inter who made the vital breakthrough thanks to a goal from an unlikely source in the form of right-back Matteo Darmian.

Martinez thought that he had put the game to bed early in the second half. Played in over the top by a long and searching ball, Martinez showed great strength and composure to rifle home. Cagliari hit back immediately, leaving Inter fans biting their nails.

Martinez eased any nerves with a well taken second goal finishing nicely after some superb work from strike partner Edin Dzeko.

It’s all to play for next week. Inter will host Sampdoria whilst AC travel to 11th place Sassuolo.
