Current league champions Olimpia lost 1-0 in their visit to Real España but remain as the league leaders.
Olimpia were without their suspended coach, Pablo Lavallén, who was not authorized to be on the bench. He was replaced by his assistant, Javier “Mono” Caut, but his tactical approach failed to overcome Real España’s five-man defence. The only goal for ‘La Máquina’ was scored by Mexican striker Omar Rosas in the 25th minute.
After losing their first four games this season, Real España have been on a remarkable nine game winning streak. One more victory would be a league record for Héctor Vargas’ side. They are now third and only one point behind Olimpia. Real España fans can dream of getting the title.
Second placed Club Deportivo Victoria are also one point behind Olimpia so there is plenty to play for.
In the next matches, Olimpia host Platense, Real España visit Lobos UPNFM and Club Deportivo Victoria welcome Honduras Progreso.
