Pochettino linked to Bilbao job

Published on

With each passing day, it looks more and more likely that Mauricio Pochettino and PSG will be parting ways this summer.

Despite guiding PSG to an easy Ligue 1 success, the capturing of the French League is seen as the bare minimum by both the clubs’ board and fans. Pochettino’s failure in this season’s Champions League is what is likely to cost him his job.

With the likelihood that Pochettino will be shown the exit door this summer, one club who are closely monitoring his situation are Spanish club Athletic Bilbao.

Bilbao find themselves 8th in La Liga but out of European contention. Bilbao are on the look out for a new manager following the recent sacking of Marcelino.

It would be considered somewhat of a coup by the Spanish side if they were to attract a manager of Pochettino’s standing to the club.

It looks set to be an interesting summer for the Argentine, as there will be plenty of suitors who will be after his services if he is removed from his PSG post.

Pochettino has made no secret of his love for the Premier League and he still has a residence in London. A move back to the Premier League where he has previously thrived with both Southampton and Tottenham would seem a logical step, but with no jobs currently available Pochettino might need to play the waiting game.
