Published on

Liga Betcris de Honduras leaders Real España came back from a goal down against CD Victoria to win 3-1. The win was their eleventh in a row and they became the first Honduran side in history to achieve the record.

Victoria took the lead at the Estadio Francisco Morazán thanks to a goal from midfielder Alexy Noel Vega Orellana in the 36th minute.

Hector Vargas’ team started the second half with a different mentality and equalised four minutes after the restart thanks to centre-back Getsel Montes. The home team turned the game round with a goal from Jhow Benavídez on 60 minutes before securing the win in the 72nd minute with a goal from Junior Lacayo.

This triumph meant they beat the previous record of 10 consecutive victories by Olimpia in 1967 and 2000. Not only did they achieve this historical record, they now lead the league with 33 points. Behind them are Olimpia with 32 points (and one more game played) and Victoria with 28.
