Real Madrid CF keen on Arsenal FC goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny – report

Real Madrid are reportedly keen on signing Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.

Reports in Spain earlier this week had suggested that Madrid are considering launching a bid for Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who is currently out on loan in the Spanish capital with Atletico and has impressed with a number of superb performances in La Liga this season.

But according to AS, Los Blancos are now looking at signing Szczesny as a potential long-term successor for current No. 1 Iker Casillas.

The Poland international has established himself as Arsene Wenger’s first choice at Arsenal after a series of impressive displays this season.

Late last year, the 21-year-old was linked with Real’s rivals Barcelona, while reports at the turn of the year had claimed Barca coach Pep Guardiola was still showing interest in the Pole to provide competition for Victor Valdes.

Arsenal would be highly unlikely to accept any bids from either of the Spanish giants, and just how keen Szczesny would be on a move away from north London remains to be seen, as when addressing speculation about a move to Camp Nou late last year, he had said: “Please continue the ‘Szczesny to Barcelona’ rumours. Makes me laugh everytime I read it. Haha.”
