13 Jan 202122 year old Aussie had an easy time.
Matthew Ebden’s goal of playing in his second consecutive Australian Open is still alive as he shrugged off Spain’s Carlos-Poch Gradin in the first round of qualifying. The final score was 6-2, 6-1 and Edben now meets Adrian Menendez-Maceiras, in what looks like a coin toss.
Ebden is ranked 250th in the world but that is his career high ranking and he appears to be mid-surge. Ebden has never played in a singles draw for a Grand Slam yet as last year’s showing was a doubles accomplishment.
