Roger Federer Vs Florent Serra Atp Miami

Published on

Two veterans on tour meet for the first time.

Roger Federer and Florent Serra will meet in the third round of the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami on the ATP tour on Monday.  Despite the fact that both players are in their late 20s and both players are veterans on tour, lucky for Serra, this is their first head to head meeting between the two.

Federer has come in at -3300 (1/33) with Stan James and Ladbrokes to win straight up so the only real thing to look at in this match for betting is if Serra has done anything on tour lately to make his odds of +1800 (18/1; Boylesports) worth risking.

Heading into Miami, Serra has hardly been on a hot streak.  He lost in the first round of a challenger tournament earlier in March to Benjamin Becker and there is nothing in his matches from 2010 that suggests he has a remote chance against Federer here.  In 2009 he beat Robin Soderling in a match in Memphis but that was back in February of ’09 and Soderling wasn’t quite playing his toughest tennis yet.

You can never say that an upset isn’t possible but if you were going to bet against Federer here you might want something like +3000 (30/1) or longer and no one is going to give those odds out.

Federer should win this in straight sets and the best price you can find on that exact result is with Stan James at -600 (1/6).  You could pound that for a top up but if you are not interested because the odds are too short then sprinkle a 2-1 results for Federer at +700 (7/1) with William Hill.
