This week, the Dove Men+Care Salvador de Bahia tournament continues with doubles play underway, and the singles competition narrowed down to 16 competitors.
With $53,120 in prize money at stake, the competition heated up in singles play on Tuesday. Top-seeded Tomas Barrios Vera of Chile dominated Brazilian Joao Menezes 6-2, 6-3 to advance to the round of 16. The 20-year-old phenom Gustavo Heide was also magnificent, cruising past Mateus Alve in a clash between two of Brazil’s top young players.
Heide’s fans are in for a real treat with doubles play commencing. The Sao Paulo native is set to square off in a singles match against Chile’s Gonzalo Lama. Then “after suitable rest,” Heide will partner up with Pedro Boscardin Dias, a fellow Brazilian, to take on Adrian Andreev and Jorge Panta in a doubles match.
