Schwartzman completes comeback to join two Argentines in title hunt

Tennis ace Diego Schwartzman is the third Argentinian left in the 2022 French Open following a 2-6, 6-7(3), 6-2, 6-2, 6-2 comeback victory over Jaume Munar on Wednesday in Paris.

The 16th-ranked Schwartzman beat Munar in three hours and 45 minutes of action to set up a third-round date with Bulgarian star Grigor Dimitrov.

“The second set was very close but I lost it and from the third, my tennis flowed and he lowered his level a bit. At times, I thought he could escape but I put attitude and tennis. I finished worse in the first round with a stomach ache. I felt the wear and tear more,” Schwartzman said.

With the victory, he joined Pedro Cachin of Cordova and Federico Delbonis as the only Argentines left out of a total of 11 who entered in the tournament.

The 153rd-ranked Cachin is scheduled to take on 74th-ranked Frenchman Hugo Gaston while Delbonis battles seventh-ranked Russian Andrey Rublev.
