Over 100 netters hope to perform today’s strong performance in the French Open qualifying round at the Stade Roland Garros in Paris.
Leading the list of competitors in a star-studded men’s cast is Brazilian Thiago Monteiro, Argentinian Pedro Cachin, and the red-hot Daniel Elahi Galan of Colombia.
Galan, who is currently the highest-ranked Colombian in the ATP rankings, is coming off title victories in Concepcion and Sarasota.
He recently made the semis of a Challenger event in Germany and hopes to sustain his momentum when he takes on Italian Franco Agamenone.
Meanwhile, in the distaff side, Brazilian Laura Pigossi will make her Grand Slam qualifying debut when she takes on German teenage sensation, Nastasja Schunk.
Pigossi, who is coming off impressive victories over Dayana Yastremska and Maria Osorio Serrano, will also be joined by top-seed Anastasia Potapova, 2012 finalist Sara Errani, and last year’s French Open girls’ champion Linda Noskova in a highly-competitive women’s division.
