McGregor’s 4-0 record inside the Octagon – and his outspoken ways on the microphone – have landed the Irishman a shot at the featherweight gold on July 11, and he is confident that he can halt Aldo’s reign over the 145lb division which dates all the way back to his WEC title win over Mike Brown back in November 2009.
“I’m a big fan of Aldo but I think McGregor’s winning the fight,” Weidman told FOX Sports.
“I think he finishes him, by TKO, in the second round.
“Trust me, I know the world’s going to end if [McGregor] wins this fight. Everybody wants to see him lose. I just think he’s just so big for the weight. He’s very athletic, big and confident. I think those are his biggest attributes.
“It does seem like a lot’s going on with Aldo. This drug test thing, his coach is talking about retirement. Maybe his head’s not 100% in the game and it’s funny because Aldo’s coming off one of the most impressive wins of his career against Chad Mendes.
“I feel like he showed a lot in that fight but for some reason I still think he’s losing this fight.”
